TAYLER COBB & 'KOKANEE' MADE IT! 8/12/2010

Not only have the pair made it to the USEF 2010 Pony Finals, but they wowed the crowd by finishing 2nd in the first jumper class of the championship. Taylor was 2nd in the order of go out of 31 competitors. Her very fast and smart ride put the pressure on the rest of the field, with only one rider being able to best their effort. That rider happens to be last year's individual jumper champion and 6 time veteran to the pony finals. Needless to say Taylor & 'Kokanee's' debut was impressive.

TAYLER COBB & 'KOKANEE"

Last year Tayler Cobb, who will turn 13 in April, qualified for the USEF (United States Equestrian Federation) National Pony Jumper Finals. Unfortunately, a broken ankle kept her from competition. This year, she’s competing around the Northwest hoping to accumulate the points she needs to qualify again. In a couple months, she’ll find out if she and pony Kokanee are headed to the five-day event at Kentucky Horse Park.

Tayler has already won other honors including one through USEF’s Horse of the Year Awards program and a successful bid at the Pony Finals would be a treasured achievement. “It takes a lot of practice, and you have to start at an early age,” said Tayler, adding that it’s exciting to watch the progress of her fellow competitors as well as her own.

Trainer and mother Nicole Cobb says the discipline of competition builds self-esteem which spreads to other areas of Tayler’s life adding, “She’s grown a lot through competition and become a gracious person both in and out of the arena.” Despite her busy schedule Tayler maintains a 4.0 grade point average. It is important to be a good student as a competitor and in life.

In June, USEF will send invitations to qualifiers for the 2010 Pony Finals. Between now and then, Tayler has miles to go, points to gather and practice and more practice.

Tayler will be competing at the Spring National Jumper Show in Monroe Washington April 23-25 th. If she and her wonder pony ‘Kokanee’ have a number of strong finishes, they may secure their invitation to the finals.

OREGON TRAIL HORSE SHOW BRINGS BIG WIN
updated 6/24/2010

Tayler & Kokanee took home the Hi. Children's Jumper Championship at the Oregon Trail Horse Show in Wilsonville, OR. The pair went to compete in the pony jumpers but he class did not run, so they entered the Hi. Children's Jumper Division. Bigger fences, and bigger horses did not deter Tayler & 'Kokanee', who were consistently clean & fast. They even won the speed class which solidified their division Championship.

Next up is the first week at the High Desert Classic coming in July to Bend, Or. Then it will be off to Kentucky for the USEF 2010 Pony Jumper National Championship!

Taylor & Kokanee placed 2nd on day 1
of competition and helped her team
Zone 8 & 9 win the Gold Medal in the
Team Jumper Championship!

Like many top athletes, Tayler spends lots of time
visualizing her goal of competing at the 2010 USEF
National Pony Jumper Finals. We hope to see her at the
event in August, host at the Kentucky Horse Park.

It's been a family affair bringing Tayler up
through the ranks. Father Greg Cobb leads a
seven year old Tayler & her 1st pony
'Roan Ranger' to the in-gate.

Always looking for ways to raise funds for her trip
to the Pony Finals, Tayler recently spent the day working
with the Redmond Chamber of Commerce & CVB on a winter lifestyle photoshoot.
The images are currently showcased in their 2010 Redmond Visitor Guide.
